Literature Text

Father’s Day. Two everyday words that are used, but together are a celebration. Each letter sums up what the day is. A muse from an only son of three children.

Fighter. Your father has lived his life everyday, no easy task. And his example was to teach his son how to live.
Attitude. Your father has his own personality, and that was a building block into your own development. When words were not used, your father’s behavior built you up.
Teacher. One half of the first influences you have when entering this world. The cycle is true; you love your teacher, you think your teacher is wrong, you're happy or mad at what they say or do, then one day you sit and think, “I wish I could talk to my teacher in times like these.”
Healer. From scabbed knees to hurt feelings, your father was there to wrap his arms around you, and even though pain may have still be there, that hedge of protection shows everything will be alright.
Exceptional. Your father is unlike any other man out there, he can do things other men can't do. He does it everyday, being himself.
Reliable. When you were little, you believed your father knew everything. As you got older, there is the realization he doesn't know everything, but he has the advice and expertise you need.
Statuesque. People gaze up at statues of great people, of representations in the form of monuments. You look up at your father with that kind of admiration, standing head and shoulders above other men.
Dedicated. From the day you were born, your father’s life was changed forever. It was his life that he fought for day to day, now he had another life that when he laid his head down at night, wanted to make sure your best interests were met. At every sports game, a patron or the coach.
Alpha. He was the first to come before you, and because of him, you walk on this and breath the air of this Earth.
Yours. You only have one father, and you both only have one life with each other. Cherish it.
As the oldest of three children, the only son, and now that my father is a grandfather to my sister's baby daughter, I wanted to express my feelings about my father these past 31 years.
